New Feature: WhatsApp Voice Notes to Text!

WhatsApp users can soon convert voice notes into text for easy viewing. Initially, the feature was launched for iOS, this feature is now being tested for Android. In the latest WhatsApp beta for Android, users can transcribe voice messages into text format, ensuring privacy and encryption.

You might have some voice notes from naughty friends that cannot be played in public. If you forget your earphones, you won't be able to listen to them in private too. But worry not, as WhatsApp is developing a solution for the problem. According to a recent report from WhatsApp Beta Info, WhatsApp is working on a feature that will allow users to convert voice notes into text, making it easier to understand the content without having to listen to it.

Initially launched for iOS users, this feature aims to provide an alternative means of communication for individuals who face difficulties with audio playback or prefer text-based interactions. Following its success on iOS, WhatsApp is now testing the same functionality for Android users.

In the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android (version 2.24.7.8), users can transcribe voice messages into text format, enabling them to read message content instead of playing the voice note. This feature utilizes the device's speech recognition capabilities to generate transcripts locally, ensuring user privacy and maintaining end-to-end encryption.

Upon its release, users may need to download approximately 150MB of additional app data to access the feature, which will be enabled by default for most users. However, in some cases, users may need to manually enable it.

Once activated, users will receive a notification prompting them to 'Read before you listen with transcripts,' indicating the availability of transcribed message content.

Currently in the testing phase and available to a limited number of beta users, WhatsApp plans to roll out this feature to more users soon, promising enhanced communication and accessibility across its diverse user base.
