The Internet Archive is based in San Francisco which was founded in 1996, Wayback Machine is a nonprofit that takes a snapshot of all the websites on the internet. This allows users to see what a website looks like at different times. If you are curious about how Technical Look looked earlier you can check it out on the Wayback machine!
Well, the world has become a different place now and some hackers have hacked into this website which has affected around 31 million of its users. This breach included patron email addresses(patron is a platform via which people take donations) and encrypted passwords.

But the question is why is the Internet Archive website important?
The Internet Archive has a digital copy of all the websites that have ever existed. It’s reported that it has archived over 890 billion web pages since 1996, which is a very large number! Additionally, with Google’s recent changes, the Internet Archive has become the primary source for cached pages. If this website were to go down, it would be devastating, as a significant amount of valuable knowledge could be lost forever.
After the attack, the organization reported that the archival material was safe following the break.
Though the site has been up now including its archive tool for websites, the Wayback Machine. The organization has commented that they have worked around the clock and even on the weekend to restore the rest of its services securely.
An activist group, Black Meta, has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
